How does online therapy work?
Online therapy offers a convenient and effective way to access support from a space where you feel most comfortable. Our sessions will take place over a secure and confidential video platform. All you need is a stable internet connection and a private space where you won't be interrupted. Many clients find it more accessible and less daunting than meeting in person.
-
How do I get started?
The first step is to book a free, no-obligation 30-minute consultation. This is a brief, informal chat where we can connect, you can ask any initial questions, and we can see if we are a good fit to work together.
-
Is your practice inclusive and LGBTQIA+ friendly?
Absolutely. I am deeply committed to providing an inclusive, non-judgemental, and affirming space for everyone. I have undertaken specific training in supporting LGBTQIA+ clients and welcome people of all gender identities, sexualities, relationship structures, and cultural backgrounds.
-
Is everything I say confidential?
Yes. Confidentiality is the cornerstone of therapy and is essential for building a safe and trusting relationship. Everything we discuss in our sessions is strictly confidential. The only exceptions to this are legal and ethical obligations related to serious risk of harm to yourself or others, which we will discuss in our first session.
-
How long are the sessions and how often will I have them?
Each therapy session lasts for 50 minutes. Most clients find it beneficial to meet weekly, especially at the beginning, as this helps to build momentum. However, the frequency of our sessions is flexible and can be discussed and adjusted to suit your individual needs and circumstances.
-
What benefits can i expect from counselling?
Counselling provides a safe space to explore feelings, reduce stress, and build resilience. It helps improve coping skills, communication, and relationships while boosting confidence and self-awareness. Ultimately, counselling empowers you to understand yourself better, make positive choices, and create lasting change.
-
How long will I be in therapy?
The duration of therapy is unique to each individual and depends entirely on your personal goals and needs. Some people come for short-term support to work on a specific issue, while others engage in longer-term therapy for deeper personal growth. We will check in regularly to ensure the sessions are meeting your needs and moving you towards your goals.
-
I’m nervous about starting therapy. What can I expect?
Feeling nervous is a completely normal part of starting something new. My first priority is to create a space where you feel safe, respected, and heard. Our sessions are a confidential collaboration. We move at your pace, and there is no pressure to talk about anything you are not ready to discuss. The focus is on building a trusting therapeutic relationship where you can feel comfortable exploring your thoughts and feelings.
-
What kind of issues can you help me with?
I can help you navigate a wide range of challenges. While my expertise is broad, clients often seek support for:
Mood & Well-being: Including anxiety, stress, depression, and building self-esteem.
Relationships & Family: From intimacy and communication issues to navigating divorce or family conflict.
Trauma & Grief: Providing a safe space to process past abuse, loss, and other deeply painful experiences.
LGBTQIA+ & Identity: Exploring sexuality, gender identity, men's issues, and body image.
Life Transitions & Challenges: Coping with major life changes, caregiver stress, ADHD, and chronic illness.
If you don't see your specific concern listed, please reach out. It's very likely I can still help or sign post you to an appropriate service.

What is 'integrative' counselling and how does it work?
Integrative counselling means I don't believe in a rigid, one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, I draw upon a rich toolkit of different therapeutic modalities to create a process that is tailored specifically to you.
During our work, we might use:
Person-Centred approaches to ensure you are always at the heart of our work.
CBT & Solution-Focused techniques to build practical skills for moving forward.
Psychodynamic explores the past experiences and patterns from childhood.
Existential brings in philosophy and psychology to help to find your place in the world.
Trauma-Informed looks at methods for healing from difficult experiences in a gentle and effective way.
This flexibility allows us to adapt as your needs change, ensuring our sessions are always relevant and supportive.
